I’m Leanne, Mummy to Olivia, Nurse & Doula. I am a Specialist Practitioner in Nursing by background working within the NHS for 10 years. It is through my own experiences that I found myself aspiring to be a Doula and completed my Birth Worker training with The Original Birth Connection early 2022.
Giving birth to your baby can be the most empowering thing you may ever do. So many of us we have lost confidence in our ability to birth and the journey has become tainted with anxiety and fear leaving us with disappointment. Allow me to work with you to reconnect with your body, giving you confidence and reminding you that childbirth is a natural event and not to be feared. Together we can overcome any obstacles and find the best way forward, with you at the center, leading the way. The birth of a baby is not just about a safe birth where mother and baby are healthy. It is so much more, I am here to remind you that you are the expert when it comes to you.
My nursing background gives me a helping hand to help you navigate the very confusing NHS system and explain any medical jargon that may have been discussed with you at your appointments. I am a specialist in tissue viability which means I have a great understanding of skin and wound healing such as caesarean birth, episiotomy and perineal tears. Since training as a Doula with the Original Birth Connection, I have also completed training in Aromatherapy for Childbirth (accredited by Royal College of Midwives, RCM), From Fertility; Expanding a Birth Workers Practice, Infant Feeding Peer Support and The Birth Trauma Training Programme with Make Birth Better. I also dedicate some of my time on a voluntary basis for Doulas without Borders which is a community organisation offering support to those experiencing disadvantage and financial hardship.
So that’s me, I would love to know more about you!
Please do get in touch if I can help you in anyway.
Warm Wishes
