Emily Jack, a mother and former Director of The Tutors’ Association, trained as a teacher and started a tutoring business because she is passionate about children’s education. Her business helped 1000’s of families across the globe with tutoring and school consultancy. She noticed that too many children did not have the support they needed to pass the increasingly competitive school entrance examinations or the support to cope with the pressure put upon them. This is an issue that is close to her heart. Emily strongly believes that one to one teaching sessions can be something that can work alongside formal education and that it focuses on individual styles of learning.
This is why, following the sale of her business, Emily started working as Head of Schools at Bookmark Reading Charity. Bookmark is a young charity with a fresh approach. Its innovative, cost-effective digital platform matches schools with safeguarded, vetted and trained reading volunteersin in addition to offering other services to assist with embedding a whole school reading culture in schools. According to the Department for Education, one in four children currently leave primary school unable to read well in England.
