Natasha and Lucy, the founders of the Hypnatal Birth Company, first started their careers in adult nursing. Natasha worked in cardiology at a busy London hospital and, whilst working there, gained invaluable experience and insight by caring for people from all walks of life, and by dealing with many high-risk patients in high-stress situations. Lucy started her Nursing career on Surgical wards and then moved to the outpatients department. Both have seen the full range of clinical problems and are always prepared for the unexpected.
Having always shared a passion and admiration for Midwifery, they left their jobs to pursue a career helping women through this amazing stage of their lives. Their paths first crossed as student midwives and both spent time working on consultant and midwife-led units, antenatal and postnatal wards, maternity day units before settling into community teams- instantly recognising community midwifery to be the heart of the care provided to women in pregnancy. It’s a special privilege to be a part of a woman’s journey from their first appointment to seeing them happy at home with their baby – especially if they’ve been with them in labour!
In response to seeing too many women coming to their clinics fearful of labour, worried about the unexpected and hearing stories of disappointment and regret about birthing experiences, they decided to create Hypnatal Birth Co. to change that narrative and empower women to achieve the right birth for them on the day.
They both are experts in antenatal, labour and postnatal care, delivering antenatal classes within their NHS trust (though currently suspended due to covid) and privately. They are also fully qualified hypnobirthing practitioner’s and teach a 10-hour course by The Wise Hippo. They are desparatley trying to make this course accessible in their own NHS trust. But currently is offered privately to women and their birth partners in North London and Hertfordshire.
