Since becoming a parent myself, I’ve made it my vocation to advocate for parents in the workplace.
My first experience of becoming a working parent in my late 30s, brought with it challenges that I wasn’t practically and mentally prepared for.
My ‘career-girl’ persona conflicted with the identity shift that parenthood presented, and I struggled to navigate the many work-life-parent transitions ahead.
My experience of muddling through brought with it certain ‘side effects’ that I feel could have been prevented with the right support.
Not just support as a ‘parent to be’ and ‘new parent’, but also support for those who made up my ‘career family’.
With my second experience of the working parenthood journey, I was able to ask for and put in place the support that I believed could have made my previous experience a lot smoother; and indeed, it did…
Even with the added work-life challenges of becoming a parent to twins, and going from a parent of 1 to 3 children in the space of 2 years!
I knew that my experiences weren’t unique and that’s when Work-Life-Parent was born.
With a background in Education & Training, I’ve combined my professional expertise and personal experiences to help workplaces develop an inclusive approach to supporting employees involved in and affected by parental leave career transitions.
About Me:
Friends describe me as: Loyal, caring, tenacious
Favourite holiday destination: Croatia
Perfect day-off parenting: Spa Retreat
Perfect day-off work: Family swim, lunch out, walk in the woods, snuggled-up bedtime stories, all kids straight to sleep! (with no biting, hiting, squabbling or potty training accidents!)
Regular me-time: Hatha Yoga
