Hi I’m Tina, I run Speech Therapy Interactive. I have a dual role, I work with children and families in early years & provide bespoke Makaton sessions using gesture therapy and a total communication approach. I love to sign! My passion started when I started working with adults with learning disabilities and difficulties at the National Centre for Young People with Epilepsy. I have continued to sign with my1 year old and love the joy it brings to parents and their children. So I’ve kept that part of me. Makton sessions using a total communication approach are a great way to boost children’s education and cognitive skills – by improving attention and listening, enhancing memory and social interaction, and developing fine and gross motor skills. I love my Job! It’s so rewarding to know that I have helped a child communicate (“signing Daddy”) and supported families to connect with each other.
I’m a Specialist Speech & Language Therapist for adults, working primarily with stroke survivors and early years. My superpower is to help people communicate and improve their quality of life, what’s yours?
I love my job, with a passion, my job challenges me every day to use my intellect, the talents of my mind in combination with humanity (helping others and providing care) allowing me to do meaningful work that feeds my soul. I enjoy building new relationships with my clients and their families who I’ve never met. The sessions may come to an end, but they leave me with memories that stay with me forever. For me, speech therapy isn’t about words. It’s about the actions, the choices and the independence I pass on to my clients every single day. It makes me so humble.
I am so proud of what I do every day. Speech therapists work hard fighting for their clients so they can have access to their basic human rights of communication and eating. When working for my own practice I find myself in people’s lives and homes, feeling grateful and privileged that people allow me to be part of their journey.
As well as signing, my services include providing assessments, client centred treatment plans, comprehensive reporting and bespoke therapy for people with a wide range of communication & swallowing difficulties. My personalised Speech and Language therapy programmes/classes are not just about restoring peoples speech and communication, but restoring their confidence, independence, sense of being, providing practical solutions to everyday challenges. My ethos revolves around using a holistic approach targeting meaningful goals, improving ones quality of life. I have worked in a variety of settings from acute hospital, inpatient rehab and community. I offer face to face therapy in the comfort of your home as well as Teletherapy personalised to your needs. I offer Makaton signing classes using a total communication approach including gesture therapy targeting communication and cognitive skills vital for the development of your babies/ children.
I’m a wanderlust wife, a gratitude logger, and empiricist who loves to try out new things in life whether it’s a new place, culture, lifestyle, activity or food. You can say I have a fear of missing out. I like to live, love and laugh in life.
My new superpower is motherhood. I’m a first time mum to my gorgeous son, and this too during lockdown. Being a mum it’s easy to lose your sparkle in your stretch marks. I absolutely love my job as a speech therapist and now a mum. But how do I have it all?! Being part of the modern mummy community. I’m bridging the gap between work and life balance.
After working for the NHS for 10 years, I’ve decided to work for my on private practice in Loughton, Essex. Speech Therapy Interactive allows me flexibility and quality time with my son (my Drive and my Why), creativity in my profession and a choice of providing quality client centred therapy.
