The abdomen is one of the most delicate and vital areas of the human body and many people are sensitive to touch here.

Notice when you feel sad or scared, subconsciously you might crouch into the fetal position for comfort, cradling and protecting this area. It is our creative, sacred centre and where we hold our power and wisdom. For millennia, people have worshipped the womb space as the sacred portal from which all life is birthed. Your womb space or ‘hara’ for men is governed by the sacral chakra.

We store our emotions here and often other people’s energy we have collected. It is the centre of our creativity, sexuality, sensuality, desires, passion, empowerment and deep wisdom.

When I did a plant ceremony once, I was shown all of the energy of other people I had collected here and was asked how I thought I would have space to grow and nurture creative projects or even life here with all this heavy energy I was holding onto. I now regularly cleanse my womb and process any emotions I hold here.

The abdominal massage I offer, based on Mayan and Ayurvedic practices works on a physical and energetic level.

It can be used to treat most, if not all of the dysfunctions or imbalances in the reproductive and digestive system, in men, women and children, which increases circulation and improves organ function. It is commonly used for women after birth, to help the uterus contract back to its correct position.

I also incorporate a castor oil and clay pack with mini reflexology into the treatment to help break down any stagnation and treat scarring, cysts, fibroids. I work with carnelian crystals, the womb stone, on acupressure points for extra healing and Qi flow.

The treatment is completed with energy grounding and crystal sound bowl, attuned to the sacral chakra, to rebalance the energy centre like a tuning fork.

BENEFITS OF ABDOMINAL MASSAGE:

  • Helps remove toxins and stagnant energy.
  • Stimulates your vital energy centre.
  • Rebalances the digestive system.
  • Helps with indigestion and constipation.
  • Stimulates circulation to the reproductive organs.
  • Reduces stress on the lower back, oblique muscles and pelvis.
  • Tones abdominal muscles.
  • Improves circulation and blood supply to internal organs.
  • Tones tissue and balances hormones.
  • Supports healthy reproductive functioning, such as painless menses, healthy pregnancy, effective labour and birth.
  • Healing from old adhesions from invasive treatments to the pelvic and abdominal area, including fibroid tumors, endometriosis and cesarean delivery are diminished when addressed by uterine massage.
  • Digestive, urinary and bladder problems can be improved.
  • Natural balance of the body can be restored.

Our deepest core wounds are usually held in the belly. This is where our densest memories are stored. Where the shadow layers are the thickest. The energetic memory of fear and trauma lies in the solar plexus energy centre in the diaphragm.

Just some of the symptoms that can manifest physically from these fears and traumas can be digestive, reproductive and elimination issues and impaired breathing.

Abdominal massage therapy works particularly on the diaphragm muscle, which is the solar plexus. Once that is relaxed, the memories and emotions can come pouring out. Often people will experience an emotional release, like crying, when massaged here. This area is usually very tight, and softening it allows emotional memories to come forward to be acknowledged and released.

This is why I love to combine abdominal massage with my energy alignment work, the alchemy of both help to unwrap the layers of stored memory and traumas to transmute them. Just receiving a massage by itself can bring profound shifts in physical symptoms.

Particularly a noticeable change in menstruation like a reduction in period pain, irregular periods and improved digestion and elimination.

Daily abdominal massage can help the flow of Qi in this area to avoid stagnation, stimulate digestion and get blood and energy to all of the main internal organs. Rub your belly clockwise in a circular motion for a few minutes in the morning to wake up your whole system.

I also share a self-care massage to practice daily at home in my womb massage treatments.
