How to help your child cooperate

Everyone has problems with getting their children to listen. Here are my tips to help your child cooperate.

It’s all in our language. So don’t say don’t when we say don’t jump on the sofa or don’t make a mess again, this is what we’re paying attention to. So they’re are going to be more likely to do that.

So how do we reframe the dos for the don’ts? We need to make more of an effort on what it is that we want our children to do, not what we don’t want them to do.

So instead of saying, don’t jump on the sofa. We can say, put both your feet on the ground, or instead of saying, don’t make a mess. We could say, please put all the Lego in the yellow box.

It’s a simple reframe, but one that allows our children to know exactly what it is that we want from them.
