My sister, Julia, is 38 and she found out that she was pregnant with her first baby late August 2021. We were all delighted with the news, as it was a long-awaited baby and the first grandchild in the family.A few days later, she started spotting and having cramps in her lower belly. Needless to say, she was very worried and upset that something wasn't right and, after her first scan, she was advised to wait and see what happened, as it was too early to see a heartbeat.Just a year before that, I lost a baby at 12 weeks, and it brought back all the painful memories and heartache of that time. It was a very anxious and unsettling wait and Julia was so relieved to see a heartbeat at her 6 weeks scan.
