My name’s Sara Matthews, I’m a subspecialist fertility doctor based at the Portland hospital in London.

I’m going to have a chat with you today about doing a sperm test and interpreting the results.

Sperm motility is low if the sperm gets cold in your sample, or if your testicles are too hot.

Now, what makes your testicles hot?

Wearing tight underwear taking hot baths, cycling too much, so keep that in mind.

But other things that can affect motility include having a little varicose vein and around your testicle, which is actually quite common.

So if that result shows you’ve low motility have a little feel. And if you’ve got an extra wiggly bit, apart from you normally have wiggly bits, around the testicle then it might be worth point to see the doctor about that.
