Protecting your baby from tobacco smoke is one of the best things you can do to give your child a healthy start in life. It can be difficult to stop smoking, but its never too late to quit.

Stopping smoking will help both you and your baby immediately. Harmful gases like carbon monoxide and other damaging chemicals will clear from your body.

Stopping smoking will:

  • Reduce the risk of complications with your pregnancy and birth
  • You are more likely to have a healthier pregnancy and a healthier baby
  • You reduce the risk of stillbirth
  • Your baby is less likely to be born early and have to face any complications that often go with being premature
  • Your baby is less likely to be born with a low birth rate

The sooner you stop smoking the better. But even if you stop in the last few weeks of your pregnancy this will benefit you and your baby.

I have been using hypnotherapy to help people stop smoking since I qualified as a therapist. Hypnotherapy works by changing a persons level of awakeness in such a way that the analytical, conscious part of the brain is turned down whilst the non-analytical subconscious side is made more alert and is woken up.

Since the subconscious mind is a deeper seated and a more instinctive force than the conscious mind this is the part that hypnotherapy targets to help you make long term and sustainable changes. Like giving up those cigarettes forever.

And its not just for pregnant mums to be. If your partner or anyone else who lives with you smokes their smoke can affect you and your baby before and after their birth.

So, if you, your partner or those living with you need that extra bit of help to kick the habit then have a look at my profile and I hope to hear from you very soon.
