Postnatal depression (PND) is characterised by feelings of sadness, hopelessness, guilt or self-blame, consistently for weeks or months after you’ve had a baby. Some women may experience these same symptoms of depression when they are pregnant which is termed antenatal depression. Depression is a mental ill-health condition and needs diagnosis and treatment.

Postnatal depression does not just affect women, 1 in 10 men experience PND and 1 in 5 women experience PND.

This talk with Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Dr Nihara Krause, is informed by psychological evidence and her extensive clinical experience of working with women and their partners.
