In order to maintain a personal and public image of strength and excessive high standards, individuals who are perfectionists are constantly trying to prove themselves with often negative consequence to themselves and others. The most pernicious form of perfectionism is termed ‘clinical perfectionism’ and this can lead to significant mental ill health.

This talk with Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Dr Nihara Krause, is informed by psychological evidence and her clinical and research experience of working with individuals who present with features of clinical perfectionism.

Dr Krause will focus on the following areas:

  • What is perfectionism and clinical perfectionism?
  • The impact of perfectionism on the individual, family and work system.
  • Who is susceptible to perfectionism and what can be done to manage it?
