WorkshopWellbeingBlossSleep

We all know how important exercise and diet are for us, but we often neglect to appreciate just how important sleep is too, with many of us putting up with bad sleep when we really don’t have to. It’s estimated that a third of the UK population has regular difficulties with their sleep, with many believing the only answer is sleeping tablets – it’s not!  I believe that knowledge is power, so if we can start to objectively understand more about the mechanics of sleep, we can then start to subjectively understand our own sleep (or lack of it).

Not getting enough sleep affects us all far more than just feeling tired the following day – it impacts us physically and mentally. Without getting the quality and quantity of sleep we need we aren’t giving our bodies the opportunity they need to rest and rejuvenate or our brains the chance to consolidate information we have learnt throughout the day (these are just two examples of many of the ways in which sleep deprivation can affect us).

Outline:

  • Understanding more about sleep – what it is and how it works.
  • Learning about the importance of sleep and the repercussions when we don’t get enough.
  • How much sleep we need at different times in our lives.
  • Actionable hints and tips on how to get better quality and quantity of sleep.

About Samantha:

Hi, I’m Sam from Easy Sleep Solutions. I’m a Certified Sleep Practitioner (or coach/consultant) for both adults and children using research and evidence-based techniques. I tailor my service to your specific requirements, whether that’s for you as a parent or you as an individual. For adults and older children I’m certified in both Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Brief Behavioural Therapy for insomnia. This involves looking at your life holistically, not just night-times, so we can identify what is contributing to your sleeplessness enabling us to retrain your brain to start loving sleep again.

I’m also due to complete further training imminently focusing on Teen Sleep. Having worked with sleep-deprived families for 3 years, I now incorporate other techniques I’ve learned not just those from my training with the well respected Dana Obleman and her Sleep Sense programme I carried out in the USA. The techniques I choose to use are usually determined by your parenting style and preference. I also have a BSc in Psychology which is naturally incorporated into my work with my clients. Again, with older or younger clients, I have multiple tools in the toolkit, I’m not a one-hit wonder!
